Lucent Access Initiative

Individualized MCAT prep shouldn’t depend on what you can pay.

Private MCAT tutoring is expensive, and it adds to the cost of practice exams, materials, and registration. The Lucent Access Initiative offers free, sustained one-on-one tutoring to students with demonstrated financial need, from the same tutors and with the same plan, sessions, and progress tracking as paid students.

What you get

The same tutoring paid students get. Free.

Weekly sessions

One to two hours a week, one-on-one and online, with a Lucent MCAT tutor.

Sustained support

Ongoing weekly tutoring while you prepare for the MCAT, not a single free session.

A real plan

A weekly study plan, practice exam review, and score tracking in your Lucent account.

No cost, ever

No payment details and no hidden fees. You never pay for Access tutoring.

Who can apply

Students preparing for the MCAT with financial need.

You’re eligible if you’re preparing for the MCAT and you have demonstrated financial need. Tell us about your circumstances in a short application. There’s no deadline: you can apply at any time.

We ask only for what we need to decide, and your application is seen only by the Lucent team.

How it works

From application to your first session.

  1. 01Apply

Tell us your test date, your circumstances, and what you want help with, whenever you’re ready.

  2. 02Review

We read every application as it comes in and reply by email.

  3. 03Get matched

You’re paired with a Lucent tutor and set a weekly time that works for you.

  4. 04Tutoring

Weekly one-on-one sessions, with a plan for every week until your test date.

How it’s funded

Paid tutoring pays for it.

Lucent is a tutoring company, not a nonprofit. Revenue from paid tutoring pays for the Access Initiative’s tutoring hours. Nothing about the program is a donation, and payments to Lucent aren’t tax-deductible.

Accountability

We’ll show what it delivers.

As the program grows, we’ll publish how many students we’ve served, the tutoring hours delivered, how many students continued through their test date, and what they told us about the program.

Applications are open

Apply anytime. We review applications as they come in.
